You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your standards.

Goals are what you aim for. Standards are what you actually live by. And when there is a gap between the two, the standards win every time.

You can want a different life as badly as you want. But if your daily standard says it is okay to cut corners, to quit when it gets hard, to settle for less than your best, the goal never had a chance.

Stop raising your goals. Raise your standards. The results follow from there.
